Caulfields By the Numbers

Just a little silly post, I suppose you can say.  Maybe this will help people to get to know our family in a different way...our likes, dislikes, and just how crazy we all are! :) These are not in any particular order:

8 - number of years we've been married as of October 25

9 - years Ryan has served in the military, including Reserves and National Guard

2 - children that have been brought forth through our union

3 - states we have live in (Kansas, Tennessee, Georgia)

10 - gallons of milk we go through in a month (we are a cereal-loving bunch so that's how that happens)

8 - addresses we have resided (3 were before the kids)

11 - cars we have had since we have been married (this is the part that shows you how nuts we are).  I blame a great portion of this on Ryan (who I love dearly!).  A couple we have owned outright, but Ryan has a problem sticking with one for a long period of time.  He likes change, but I wish he would just change his haircolor or something.  Might be cheaper. :-p

4 - "first day of prek" pics I have taken of Hannah (she was in an early intervention program in KS and then another one in GA, then regular prek in GA, and then prek in TN)

16 - months Ryan has been in Iraq combining his two deployments

75 - pounds gained between the two of us since being married.  Ryan was kind enough to put on the lbs along with me while pregnant with the girls. :)

6 - weeks we have currently been homeschooling

3 - (at least) number of pairs of shoes Autumn has in the car since she always takes them off. She might be one of those barefoot runners :-p

30 - panda items Hannah owns that I am able to count in my head

2 - days under Autumn's 2nd birthday!! :D

Class of 2010

Hannah is officially a Pre K graduate! She didn't get a sweet car or a big wad of cash but she did get a stuffed bear wearing a graduation cap, some mylar balloons, a bouquet of sunflowers, and a box of candy. She was pretty pleased. She was so cute as she was walking down the aisle with the rest of her classmates, waving to all of us. She had a nice crowd gathered for this most important event in her life--Aunt Tookie, Moo Moo, Bobbo, Unkie, Papaw, Grendy, me, her sister, and her cousin. Unfortunately, Ryan had to work tonight.

Tomorrow is a half-day and the last day of school. Hannah will be at school a whopping three hours, so I think everyone will just party it up. :) Since we're homeschooling, it will be just us after tomorrow. Kinda weird to think about. We won't have that "crutch" of anticipating school being back in session come August. I'm still very excited about what's ahead, trying to find activities to keep us busy during the summer. So far we have bowling, summer programs at the library, VBS, and our normal library day where we check out at least 20 books at a time. If anything else is out there (free or cheap!), just give me a holler!

Proper Prep

When Hannah started Pre K last August I knew she would certainly learn a thing or two, but I definitely saw it as an opportunity to only have to worry about one child Monday through Friday, 7:45-2:15. I'm not gonna lie. I came later to find out that the curriculum put out through the state of Georgia (and the oh so generous lottery) is quite impressive, far more impressive than what I remember going through at that age. Hannah thrived in school, both socially and academically. Her teachers had nothing but good things to say about her, and she constantly talked about her many friends. One of my favorite moments was when Hannah came home from school reciting the months of the year while doing the Macarena. How's that for memorization!

I never realized the importance of preparation prior to Kindergarten! Since we moved to TN getting her back into school was definitely a priority! For all of our sanity! Hannah is less than amused by me and her daddy--it's either school or her grandparents. For the longest time she woud ask, "Are we going to see my new school?" whenever we got in the car to go anywhere. Thanks to a recommendation from an old friend from M.O.P.S., we found a school that both meets our budget and will prepare her academically. I also cannot get over how social she is! That is definitely a genetic gift from her father. When we visited her new school she was already asking other kids their names and if they wanted a hug! I was never like that at her age.

Hannah will have her (2nd) 1st day of Pre K on Tuesday and we are very excited to get her back into the swing of things!
