My Little Orangutan

As soon as Autumn came out into the world with her head full of red hair my mom has referred to her as "Clyde" as in the orangutan featured in Every Which Way But Loose and Any Which Way You Can. Aside from the hair, she is becoming more and more monkey like. She is all about climbing these days, especially on the couch and up the stairs. I swear, her father and I have had a few mini heart attacks as we are making sure she doesn't fall off and break her head open. I don't know about the rest of you, but I like my kids' heads intact. :) She is a tricky one, she is. She will bring us a book under the pretense that she wants a story read to her. We pick her up and she is quick to wiggle out of our arms and begin her journal cruising across the sectional. When we take her off the couch, I think saying she is mad would be an understatement. She is also loving the stairs which is another source of our possible cardiovascular failure. She will comes to the stairs, give us a coy grin before attempting her climb up. Autumn will take one step at a time, turn around and just stand there as if daring us to do anything about it. She is pure evil, no doubt about it! But we love our little Clyde and just hope she does not indulge in the art of climbing out of her crib! Hannah was not a climber, and I am hoping we get lucky again.

Proper Prep

When Hannah started Pre K last August I knew she would certainly learn a thing or two, but I definitely saw it as an opportunity to only have to worry about one child Monday through Friday, 7:45-2:15. I'm not gonna lie. I came later to find out that the curriculum put out through the state of Georgia (and the oh so generous lottery) is quite impressive, far more impressive than what I remember going through at that age. Hannah thrived in school, both socially and academically. Her teachers had nothing but good things to say about her, and she constantly talked about her many friends. One of my favorite moments was when Hannah came home from school reciting the months of the year while doing the Macarena. How's that for memorization!

I never realized the importance of preparation prior to Kindergarten! Since we moved to TN getting her back into school was definitely a priority! For all of our sanity! Hannah is less than amused by me and her daddy--it's either school or her grandparents. For the longest time she woud ask, "Are we going to see my new school?" whenever we got in the car to go anywhere. Thanks to a recommendation from an old friend from M.O.P.S., we found a school that both meets our budget and will prepare her academically. I also cannot get over how social she is! That is definitely a genetic gift from her father. When we visited her new school she was already asking other kids their names and if they wanted a hug! I was never like that at her age.

Hannah will have her (2nd) 1st day of Pre K on Tuesday and we are very excited to get her back into the swing of things!

Christmas and the Great Job Hunt of 2010

I am apparently not doing too well keeping on top with this blog. I will just add it to the list of resolutions for the new year!

Our Christmas was very nice. Naturally all the kids made out better than the adults but all the adults agreed that we are not going to draw names next year for the sheer reason that we like getting a bunch of stuff. :P Layaway will be all our friends next year!

Along with Christmas our family made the big move from GA to TN (to the left is our new humble abode)! Ryan is officially retired from the Army! Now we are at the beginning of the job hunt. He has spent every hour he can on the internet and going around to different staffing agencies in the hopes of finding a job. I have full confidence in him and we both know that the Lord will provide!
Isn't it insane that we are starting a new decade? I wonder if I am the only one in awe of that. The first dcade of the new millenium is done and it's on to the next one. This past decade was quite good to me (high school, college, marriage, babies, moving to different places) and I am very excited to see what this one will bring!
